is the drive set up to burn cd's (in other words.. go into my computer, right click cd-rom, go to properties, then to the recording tab, and make sure the box that says "Enable CD recording on this drive" is checked

A CDROM (read only drive) will not read blank cds. If your cdrom drive is a cdrw then it will read blank disks. If it is a cdrw/dvdrw, then perhaps a good cleaning with a cd/dvd lens cleaner will allow you to read blank disks again.

Did any thing I suggested fix or enlighten you on your drive?

And why do you have "google it" in your signature on a computer help forum?
