Unhappy old computer wont boot western digital caviar 310200 drive
i got this hd from a friend he told me it might not boot and it doesnt, he said it might have viruses on it and some bad files how do i fix it i want to format it and put linux on it the computer has an ami bios and 8mb of with a 133mhz processor

its just a spare mine is a p4 1.6 w/ 1.12gbs of sdram

grab Western digitals Data lifeguard tools and run it on the system. Your going to reformat anyway, those utilities will allow you too, it will also check the integrity of the drive, and also partition the drive.
