We even have ads in the paper here from Dettol warning people not to inject or ingest their product.

As well as articles such as the following:-
Quote:
Several doctors warned the public against injecting disinfectant or using UV light and a leading household cleaner manufacturer urged users not to inject it into their bodies.

Reckitt Benckiser, the British-based maker of Dettol and Lysol, said in a statement: “We must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route).”
Political commentators joined the condemnation. Robert Reich, a professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley and a former labor secretary, tweeted: “Trump’s briefings are actively endangering the public’s health. Boycott the propaganda. Listen to the experts. And please don’t drink disinfectant.”

Found an even harsher one:-
Quote:
Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, added: “It is incomprehensible to me that a moron like this holds the highest office in the land and that there exist people stupid enough to think this is OK. I can’t believe that in 2020 I have to caution anyone listening to the president that injecting disinfectant could kill you.”

Probably, the sad thing about this is that there may be some who act on the disinfectant idea, just because it's the President who said it, and do themselves some real harm.

Hence the warnings from disinfectant manufactures and the stunned medics..
Aww!
C'mon Ned can't you see the man was just being sarcastic?? He really meant to bombard the virus (Not the human in it's grip) with high intensity UV,Laser or purest (possibly heavenly) light. Luckily my news reader informed me of the Don"s sarcasm as I am unsure of this form of wit...

At the moment he is making statements about getting America back working. America with the tragic record of having the highest death rate and the most cases of Covid-19 in the world. And as I read it, it doesn't seem to be slowing yet. (perhaps I'm wrong)
Apparently he's now not the only one doing this. All countries will have to start trying to get back to normal, at some point or another.

Of course, but most have seen a significant reduction in new cases and a very low death rate before they have started winding back the restrictions. Failure to do that is a death sentence to some of the population.

Here in Australia the new cases have slowed to 6 in the last 24 hours with no new deaths and winding back will not even start till next weekend and only then if the rate does not increase.

Just sounds like more hot air, to me.

I actually think that the response from China was great, it was the first place this infection struck and no one had any experience of this disease anywhere. They quickly locked the borders and closed down industry in that area and instructed people to stay home using the army to enforce this.

The results speak for themselves, China the country with the larges population has an infection rate and death rate much lower than that in other countries who acted much less proactively.

We even have cases of some places stating the restrictions will be lifted shortly while they still have a huge infection and death rate.

Are none of the present leaders conversant with history? In 1919 when the world was hit with Spanish Flu, many were infected and many died. They had a lockdown also and lifted it too soon such that a second peak, larger than the first, occurred in many places such that thousands needlessly died. The economic impact of the second wave was far greater than the first, an impact that could have been avoided if the initial lockdown had not been lifted so soon.

I'm simply embarrassed as an American. First time in my life I've felt ashamed of the representation of the office to the world. There have been other Presidents I disliked, but I've never been ashamed of them.

Note that I am not anti-Trump, nor pro-Trump. I'm simply a realist.
