Unhappy Lost Desktop & Contacts from Trojan

My wife suffered from the fake Smart HDD Trojan on her PC because whe had not updated her Bit Defender Anti Virus.
I have managed to get rid of it (I hope) with Mbam. However, her Contacts have disappeared from Windows Mail and her Desktop has lost all the shortcuts. The Contacts and Desktop files are still on the C Drive but don't show up.

Help would be appreciated

Malware is getting more sophisticated and that makes much of it much more difficult to get rid of, requiring specialized tools.

I recommend you read this thread, then start a new thread in our Malware Removal Forum and let the experts there make sure all malware is gone.

If you're still having the problem after making sure everything's been cleaned up, post back here.
