2 external drives dead
I have 2 external HD's. Both 420gig sata seagates in External closures. I figure one is dead as it does nothing at all. The other clicks and that is all I can get it to do.
Not really important, but there was some files I'd like to get off of them. Any Ideas of what I can try out? These are hooked up to my laptop via USB and Running linux Mint. I don't have a Windows PC here anymore, so I'm not sure if there is anything I can run to try to recover anything at all. |

Clicking not good means there is physical damage to either the arm or one of the platters.
May try booting using Segate tools for DOS and see if it recognizes them. Or try the LINUX version |

if they click - not good. One thing you can try is to remove the drives from their cases and installed them in the computer. sometimes the case itself can be bad.
