Post Tried installing Linux on Laptop

I have old Windows XP Computer, Dell laptop. As the laptop is slow i tried to load Linux on the system as well as trying to enabling dual-boot. I misplaced some DLLs in the system. When i start up the computer there is an error message
"Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: Load needed DLLs for kernel". How do I fix this?
