IPv6 (moved from W7)

What does my office need to do in order to complete the transition from IPv4 to v6? Know that the office will need an OS that will support v6 such as Windows 2008 and most distributions of Linux.

The main thing you need to do is take a look at every PC (if they are different) and make sure that all hardware is capatible with IPv6. This could be the main problem.

How can I tell if the PC is v6 compatible? Probably the newer PCs will be compatible.

Most hardware today will probably support IPv6 but you can find more information by gathering the hardware model number and visiting the manufacturers website. To learn more about IPv6 for Windows, please see the following:

Actually, I'd say your networking infrastructure is the biggest concern unless you have some systems running on old OS.

You need to make sure that your routers all handle IPv6 and that your DNS servers are set up for IPv6.

On top of that you need to make sure that any software you are running is compatible with IPv6. Most newer versions of software should work in an IPv4/IPv6 environment. If you were to use just IPv6 addresses, you'd be more likely to run into issues.
