Can you tell if the buzzing is coming from the speakers? Or is it mechanical buzz due to something scraping something that is moving fast?

What is the make and model number? If really a "tablet", it probably has no fan (or any moving parts). So it could be coil whine but more likely interference buzz through the speakers. |

It's a laptop I referred to it as a tablet as a previous post Dig said that as they are not meant to be on someones lap as they need an airflow they should be referred to as a tablet (If I remember correctly .In my ignorance I thought a tablet and notebook were the same thing.Used on a lap there would notbe sufficient airflow. Its an Acer 5742

Make sure you remove the power supply and remove the battery. Then make sure you keep yourself and the notebook at the same ground potential to avoid any static discharges.

I am confused. You said the noise stopped. Then you said it was coming from the speakers. Opening the case will not reveal anything if the noise is coming from the speakers.

the noise stopped but restarted again.I am guessin fhe source is from the speaker the sound comes from a circular disc about 2 inches diameter with slotted air holes.

If a speaker, you should be able to mute the sound or turn up or down the volume with the applicable keyboard keys.

Unable to mute the sound as mute is un responsive
