'You need permission to delete this file'

I'm using Vista Home Edition.
How do I get around deleting some files that say 'You need permission to delete this file? I have admin powers and still can't delete them.
This is so very annoying.
I'd appreciate any help from anyone.

You need to take ownership of them.

Start button > All Programs > Accessories > Right-click on Command Prompt > Select Run as administrator > Click Continue.

For our example, we are going to use the murfsgarage.jpg file

1. At the command prompt, input takeown /f filepath (takeown /f c:\windows\system32\murfsgarage.jpeg).

2. Press Enter on the keyboard.

3. A message will be displayed that this completed successfully.

4. Now input icacls filepath /grant yourusername:f (icacls c:\windows\system32\murfsgarage.jpeg /grant murf:f).

5. A message will be displayed that this completed successfully.

You will now be able to modify or replace the file. When you are done, simply remove the permissions to keep the file secure.

HERE is a little program that does it all a lot easier.

Nice little program, thanks. It didn't work though.
I tried the Command Prompt and everything went well till I got to the last part where you have to enter /grant myusername. For some reason, it said "Invalid parameter "myusername:f"

So then I tried your program, it went through the motions, said it was successful, but when I went to the file and tried to delete it, it still said I needed permission.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but it's an exe file that I'm trying to delete.
