Pc won't get past first screens.

Hello, this is my dads account.
I currently have a
Packard bell
intel core 2 quad, Cpu Q6600 @2.40GHZ Vista.
It wont go past the packard bell screen on startup.
When i press f2 before this screen tog et into set up it goes to the setup screen with all the details of my pc,(the black screen). Then doesnt do anything. I have had it get past this and it goes to something trying to start the pc up, and says it is trying to repair it, it may restart a few times, yet it goes to another screen with just a packard bell picture, and stops doing everything and stays at that screen!
What is wrong with my pc? How can i start it?
Cheers

go into your setup screen and see if it sees your harddrive and the proper size of the drive.

Thankyou Renegade...my son found the problem, it was a corrupt card from our camera, left in the sd slot?...wouldn't do anything....Sorted now!

Again Thankyou for your service!

Mike.
