0x0000008E on wake up after a long sleep
Like the title says, when my laptop is asleep for more than 8 hours and I try to wake it up, it immediately gives me a BSOD with a 0x0000008E error code. Today I got more info than usual, I don't know if it means anything though, under the error code line there is a file "NTFS.sys" error then an address that I didn't get. It did do a minidump so if you need that info let me know. Please help this is getting really annoying. Also, I have not installed any new programs or hardware when this started happening.

Hi jazz836062, if you send me the minidump, I might be able to help you identify what is causing your problem but no promises.
Copy it to a new folder, zip it up (this is important) and email it to me (include a link to this thread) and title your email "Minidump". My address is anniefriday@xtra.co.nz. I will post back when I have checked them out. |

I received the file. The bugcheck analysis identifies the problem as a driver fault and Outlook.exe is identified as the process affected. Unfortunately it doesnt identify the driver that is causing the problem.
Having said that, Norton plugs in to Outlook and it would be the my primary suspect to investigate. I couldnt glean any more info jazz but perhaps this will help you troubleshoot the problem. |

Ram
I just remembered that I did install a new stick of RAM when the problems started. I will be taking it up with Kingston and keeping you up to date.

Apparently, my laptop cannot have more than 2 gigs of RAM. Stupid mistake on my part. However I have found a temporary work around. It uses all three gigs while it is running but the only problem is when it has been asleep for about 4 hours or more. Therefore, I will just shut it down when I am not going to be on it soon. No problems so far *crosses fingers*. Thanks for your help Ann-Marie.
