wifi range extenders
My wireless router signal won't reach to the part of the house where I want to connect my satellite tv receiver to the internet. What do I need to know about wifi range extenders in order to purchase the one that is all that I need?

This is a little bit dated, but all you need to know is probably here:

I use the Netgear EX7500 extender, I was using with my Netgear 1gb dual router and worked great. I very recently switch from cable to Verizon FIOS and am using a Gateway G1100 dual router. The extender works great with it.
It can extend both 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz. My wife's lappy is in another room from the router, without the extender she was running around 190mbps, depending on bandwidth, with the extender she is up to 433 mbps, quite a jump. You don't have to match the brand of the extender to your wireless router, although may not be a bad idea. |
