Restoring Older Laptop

I just got an old Toshiba Laptop. It works fine, except after about 10 minutes it crashes. I was feeling the computer and belive that one of the fans on the laptop was not working and the other was very slow. I was wondering if anyone knew any way to preent this cooling issue. My initial thought was if I could replace the two fans. If anyone has any other ideas, please tell me.

Tank you for any help

How would I go about replacing the fans?

if it helps, it is a Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255

Also, how much would either of these cost?

I'm not sure, I can't find that laptop on Toshiba's website to find a manual or anything.

You should be able to get just any little fans of newegg. Unless they are ones designed by toshiba for that laptop, which they could be. Only way to know would be to open it up and check the fan sizes etc.

I read that it was possilbe that dust had accumulated in the heatsink for the processor. I am sending it to be cleaned out. My question is how likely this is to be the cause of the problem (the site I saw it on said that many Toshiba Laptops have this problem).

Also, instead of replacing fans, what about a cooling pad? I saw some on newegg for $20-30 and was wondering if these would have any effect. If they would not, how would I find 1) sizes for the fans 2) voltages and 3) connectors and 4) where to purchase laptop fans.

Thank you so much for helping me with this. My desktop is being repaired (possible smoke damage) and I need a computer.

Hmm, Don't bother sending it away to be cleaned. All you need to do is get a can of compressed air (Yes a can of Compressed air), and use it to blow out the dust. It is all they will do to it, Except if you do it yourself you will save alot more.

So clean dust out of the fans, which yes does accumulate and block fans from spinning normally, and maybe a laptop cooler to assist. They do work good from what I have heard.
