What years were your favorite Part of the '80s?
What was your favorite part of the '80s? Which did you think was the best overall? The best music, best TV, best movies, just overall which part had the best pop culture?
Do you like the early '80s? The mid '80s? The late '80s? I voted MID 80s as that to me was the BEST (Commando in 85,etc....) And since quite a few people feel the early '90s were still sorta a variation of the '80s I thought I'd go ahead and include it in the poll. Come to think of it,maybe I should have added in the late '70s too, since it was in a way a prologue to the '80s. |

Spent 80 to 84 surfing, partying and racing enduros. Gave Michelle Ashley the elbow (OH WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Got married in 84, 1st born in 88. converted to track racing in 86. Still good fun, but not so many boken bones. discovered motorbike touring - did most of the continent with a good bunch of mates. Moved to London (Hertfordshire, actually).Bought my first house (and then my second), changed from being a coal miner to being a mainframe operator. Bit of a change from driving hard headings two miles underground to drinking champagne lunchtime in Corney & Barrow, Broadgate Centre! Crap music on the whole (though some shining exceptions), appaling fashions, drivel on TV (nothing much changes) except for the birth of Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Miami Vice (oh no, did we really used to wear white loafers without socks and push the sleeves up on our jackets). The miners strike Polltax riots Lockerbie Hungerford The hand of god Kevin Keegans hairdo Hoddle and Waddle singing Diamond Lights Jumpers for goal posts......... |

Early 80's were the best for me (can I include late 1979 as some cracking music then)? Mid 80's were lost or did I blank them out?
First job First flat Motorbikes and long hair No commitments/pressures/cares Red Dwarf Thatcher Unemployment Living rough Royal Engineers Short hair Why did nobody kill Rick Astley and why has he got a Greatest Hits CD (must be a one track album). |

After 10 years I became tame and docile in 1980. The 80s included 2nd marriage, kids, grindstone, mostly crap for music, some good vacations, a number of experiences that will never be forgotten and never told. The best of the 80s would have to be the late 80s when my kids came along.

Now, thinking about it, the whole decade was great for me!
I was still a kid back then, didn't care about careers or responsibilities and didn't know much about life either. So i can't really vote early, mid or late '80's Last edited by Morfeasss; April 14th, 2006 at 04:18 PM. |
