cd/dvd drive not working
I have no idea what's wrong. It was working just fine a few days ago, now today when I went to play one of my game it can read the disk. It will spin and everything, but nothing show up. Not even in my computer the dc/dvd drive does not come up.

I went into device manager, it showed an issue with the drive.
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I uninstalled it from device manager and restarted the computer, but it reinstalled the drive, but it still shows the same error.

I tried a system restore going back a few days and that didn't work.

Any ideas?

I have a sony laptop VGN FW510F

The dc/dvd drive model name is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7700S

Any help would be great. Thanks

I fixed it. I followed the step provided in this link.

A very common problem with Windows XP/Vista, a known bug that happens. Software particularly Roxio can cause it and some other DVD/CD buring programs.

I have windows 7, but if it was burning software other then what windows provides the only other one is itunes. After I followed the steps from windows I did have to repiar itunes, as it lost it's burning software from deleting the two files.

But everything is fine now.
