Different systems have different buttons to enter BIOS. Most will tell you on the very first screen that comes on when booting your pc, this is also where you want to push the button to enter your BIOS. It will most likely be displayed as Setup, or BIOS. Once you figure out what you need to push and are into BIOS, look around threw it and look for something to do with Boot, then set the CD ROM to boot before anything else. After that, insert your Windows XP disk and follow Microsofts steps, and you should be good to go. Also note that UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME can be caused by a bad hard drive, you may want to look around for a hard drive scanners, i think most of the hard drive manufacturer wesites have them.

Hope it helps! Good luck!

Installing the DSL would not have done it unless the pc was shut down while it was being installed. But i don't really know how to explain how to do it any better, maybe someone else around here does?
I don't think your dumb either, we all have to start somewhere...

you usually press del to enter setup [some pcs u tap f2] when turn on pc,then go to advanced ,there will be a section that shows what boots first ,you change that to boot from cd
