Windows XP Professional - File & Folder Sharing
Hi!, I installed windows xp professional to PC1 and PC2, and I want to share PC1's resources like folder and files to PC2, I can doit by adding to PC1 the user name of PC2 and let PC2 to access whatever files and folders that I shared for PC2 only, but there is one problem, whenever I shutdown PC1 and turn on again, it give's me a welcome screen with two names to login "PC1 & PC2", how can I resolve this?
Thanks in advance for Wizard out there.... |

Welcome
Do you want to remove the User Account or just disable the Welcome Screen? To have the PC automatically log on to an account goto Start>Run> and type control userpasswords2 uncheck the option to require users to logon to the PC. Press Apply and it will ask for the default account to logon to. |

Hi!, I'm back, I did what you ask me to do "control userpasswords2" and it works, but when I decided to log off (normally what people used to do whenever they go away from their PC) it came with only a background (wallpaper) and nothing to it that I can logon back, anything else I need to do?

Are you saying that it did not complete the logoff?
I've never experienced that problem. Maybe you can try going into control userpasswords2 again and applying the logon setting and see if that works. Did you have any logoff problems before? |

Hi!, i'm back, sorry about the last previous message, what actually happend was my PC1 got frozen, and the next time I tried to logoff was successfully, but it shows PC1 & PC2 in the welcome screen after logging off. Is there any way I can avoid this.

Only other way would be to hide the user account, disable the user account or delete the user account.
You can delete or disable it via User Accounts. If you want to hide it you will need some tweaking software such as TweakUI. |

Hi, I deleted PC2 from PC1 using Administrative tools, but PC2 lost his connection to the files and folders I have shared. What I really want to achieve is to avoid PC3 to see the shared folder and files for PC2 that is why I need to put PC2 name in the users account so that I can limit the users to see files and folders for each PCs. I have also some folders that I shared for PC3 exclusively. Originally there are two PCs connected to PC1 and PC2's & PC3's names are added to PC1's computer account and PC1, PC2 & PC3 appears on Welcome Screen.
I'm deeply sorry about this merry go round, is there anyway I can resolve this or is the tweakUI that you said can only do the trick. thanks again for your kind patient. |

Add PC2 back in but disable the account.
See if that works for you. |
