Error deleting file or folder: cannot delete file;can't read from source file or disk

Hi, I have about 3 folders that used to contain family photos that can NOT be deleted. I have started in safe mode, and tried to delete them that way, but it doesn't work. I am also not able to re-name the folder. The folders no longer have files in them. One folder is on my desktop, another one is in my documents, and one is in my pictures folder. Argh! It's a small problem, but annoys me to no end. Thanks if you can help. I've looked this up on Mircosoft, etc. but can not find the answer to this problem.

Try making a folder called "Rubbish" or something like that but do not make it in the program files.Cut and paste the other folders to it then reboot and then delete them from you rubbish folder.

Hi jory29. The easiest way to fix your problem is to download Killbox from here. Paste the full file path of each (see below) in the dialogue box and go to the Action Menu and click "Delete Upon Reboot". When you get the "Pending file rename operation" message, click on File > Add and C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Reboot.exe should appear in that window. Next click on Action > Process and Reboot. You will be asked if you want to reboot, click OK.

Example -> C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Reboot.exe
