Cool jpeg to jpeg conversion for entire folders

I meant jpg to jpeg conversion in the title. I'm running Win98 2nd Ed. on a '98 HP Pavilion. A while back I did a destructive recovery. I have a lot of photo folders that I use with my business. After I recovered my data (some backed up online, others on zip discs) when I open a photo folder all the icons are the windows icon like a flag waving with a jpg file extension, rather than jpeg icon with a jpeg file extension.

In order to open up any pic you have to rename each one individually. I want to be able to rename the entire folder from jpg to jpeg with one command if possible.

I did try a lot of different things with no success. It's prolly real simple. Any ideas anyone. Thank you, Paul

Hi Paul

Welcome to CTH

You don't need to rename each file by changing the extension to be able to open them. You just need to add the .jpg extension in the file associations.

There are several ways to do this. Try this:-
In Windows Explorer, Right click a file with the .jpg extension
Select 'Open With'
In the Open With Box, Scroll to the application that you open your .jpeg files
Select that Application
Put a checkmark in the 'Always use this program to open this file' box
Click OK

And everything should work from here on.

Test it by double clicking a few .jpg files

Good luck.
