Slipstreamed XP Home SP2

My notebook came preinstalled w/ Windows XP Home SP2, but no cd. I have purchased a copy of XP Home and want to slipstream a SP2 disk in the event a repair install or recovery console is needed. (~not yet, fortunately!)

Do I set the volume label of the slipstreamed CD as WXHCCP_EN to match the license w/ the new CD, or as WXHOEM_EN to match the installation license on the notebook.

My guess is to match the authenticated, installed license (WXHOEM_EN) as that is what is being repaired.

Thanks, --LarryS

That one.

(WXPOEM_EN if that fails)

Another important thing when making slipstreamed CDs is the boot image.
It must be named Microsoft Corporation.img

If you name it anything else you get "bit" when you try and enter the CD for repair.
I can't remember the exact wording but it was something to the effect of "You don't
have an original kernel" or something like that.

Actually, I am using The Elder Geek's walkthrough and the .img requirement is very well pointed out, thanks Spider. ISOBuster does a good job.

The XP Pro file size is slightly larger and contains a cmpnents folder that XP Home doesn't have, so I'm interested in why you might recommend the XPPOEM_EN?

No probs. Good to hear Elder Geek has to explicit instructions. Many tutorials on slip'in on the Web
but so many don't point that vital factor out.

Yes, I'd go with that. More is always better.
