Found.000 ?

Here's my situation...

I was installing SP4 (for Win 2K Pro) via a wireless connection (802.11b). During the install, my g/f picked up our 2.4 GHz phone & made a call. That killed my connection (was installing fom a networked pc).

I went to re-install SP4 today & noticed a FOUND.000 folder with 10 .chk files in it on my c: drive.

Is it safe to delete this?

Found.000 folder on machines running Windows 2000 is where windows 2K stores recovered damaged files ( like after bad or improper shutdown ) .

Most likely your hard-disk has developed bad areas or file and directory structure are damaged so OS tried to check what's going on with HD.
Win2k used to schedule disk-check for next reboot and tried to repair damages. All damaged files are recovered and in case you need to know what is the contents you can eventually open "***.chk" files stored in E:\found.ooo folder.

So , even if you are about to delete folder found.000 Win2K will recreate the new one.

I would rather run thorough disk-cleanup and then one of disk-check utilities to see what's wrong with the hard-disk.

Thanks for your reply. I ran the Error Checking tool & it said the hard drive was fine.
