Adobe Reader

I ahve both adobe reader 8.o and Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 on my computer. I have several pdf files down loaded. However I am unable to set either Adobe Reader or the Acrobat Pro to open or read them When I right click on the file icon neither Adobe Reader or the Pro version is shown as a program to select. When I browse to the program and open it all I see is the individual files. How do I set it up so adobe will read the pdf files?

Right click on .pdf file, click "Open with", and select Adobe from the list.

On the "Open with" menu should be "Choose program." Click on that.

In the list that opens, find "Adobe Reader" or it may just be "Reader" and click on it once to select it. At the bottom, check the box for "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" and click OK.

To open a pdf file with Reader already open, when you click on File>Open and see the list of files, if the file you want is not in that list (which is the contents of a folder), use the drop-down list at the top to navigate to where the file you want is located. Once you find the file, click the file once to select it and click the Open button (or just double click the file).
