file transfer from old to new

I need help transferring files from an old pc to a newer one. I have an older sony vaio and want to transfer files to a gateway, I tried the file and transfer wizard and was not able to use it I don't have a data cable. I need another way to transfer.

Howdy:

You could always move the old hdd to the new system and slave it there. Then simply transfer the data you need.

Or, you can burn what you need to a cd/dvd and move the files that way.

I know that I can slave the hard drive. I tried to us a 2gb data traveler but it would not load to it, both pc are on the same router is their any way to transfer that way?

Do you have a local area network (LAN) setup? Can both systems see each other?
