How many digits of pi do you know?
I am curious, how many digits of pi do you know?
I know about 250, but I'm finally planning on memorizing more. Edit: Please tell the truth. Last edited by Pi rules; October 9th, 2005 at 04:45 PM. |

Man, you have this obsession with pi, don't you? I guess Pi does rule your world. I never need it anymore but when I did, I'd use a basic 3.1415. That seemed to be adequate for government work. Calculators do it all now. I come from the slide rule era. Interpolation was the thing.

Why didn't anyone vote?
It's not an obsession, it's a slight fascination. I'm just curious to know how many everyone else knows. |

I meant that nobody who posted here voted on the poll when I said that.
I think the problem is that wants to take a poll on pi for some reason. |

Anyone who wants to [gawd alone knows why they would] can "know" as many digits as they want, just ask the computer....simple, and useless to most people. If you mean how many can they "remember" [again, gawd alone knows why they would] I would suggest memorizing something useful like cards in blackjack or horseracing form. Or even another language.

Pi is good, but pie is better! there is apple, cherry, etc.
I don't use Pi that much, but if I do 3.1415. is good. " I LIKE PIE!" |

What a pointless poll! Why not ask "how many odd socks" or "wheres me washboard".
Like the vast majority of people in this world, I use 3.142 on the extremely rare occasion I need to use it. Engineers in work vary between 3 points and 10 points, depending on the application. Obsessions are wonderfull right up to the point where they put you in a rubber room and all you can do is sit in the corner and say "wibble". Like I posted a few weeks back, broaden your horizons (with the emphasis on "broad"). p.s., get your picture on the gallery, I'm starting to build a mental picture here and I'm hoping you'll prove me wrong. Calm down fella's its just a question. I'm sure Pi doesn't mean any harm or isn't trying to pad his post count. While its true one can take a subject too far its also true that we have to keep in mind everyone is different. Lets not gang up on Pi as he's just expressing himself, but Pi maybe give us a break on the whole subject of Pi as too much of anything is never a good thing. A wise man once said "In all things there must be balance". So with that in mind take care of yourself, and take care of each other....
One love! |
