Ok. Could you now uninstall Avast please and reboot. Any change?

I had the issue before Avast though , thats why I got rid of Norton because I thought Norton was the issue and replaced it with Avast.

I dont use Avast so I dont know Jason. Most AV's give you the opportunity of emptying their quarantine folders during an uninstall but if in doubt, delete the files before you uninstall it.

Ok. Well I am out of ideas now Jason. The more I read about your error message, the more I suspect your hard drive may be failing, especially after there were problems with your new profile after only a few days.
I know that chkdsk didnt report anything too major but each manufacturer provides utilities that test their drives and it would be a good idea to run one of these. I rarely work on hardware problems and am not the best person to help in these cases so it would be a good idea to post a new topic in the Hardware Forum and include your specs. I am sure that someone will recommend the correct utility. Good luck. |

I guess the only thing left to do is restore to facotry default. I really dont think its the HD , I switched to IE 8 last week and right after the install the pc ran without any issues for a couple of reboots and nearly 48 hrs and than began the issue again.
I just don't understand why after a software install the issue would go away and the scan of the HD shows no bad sectors. |

Perhaps corrupted files were replaced by the installation only to corrupt again as they were used.
I would be inclined to run the Manufacturer's HD diagnostic utility rather than rely on Chkdsk if I had doubts but it's up to you. |
