Xbox 360 zyxel router. Nat strict d:

Hey guys, so over the past few weeks ive been having trouble with my xbox 360 showing NAT as STRICT when i play on live.
I have UPNP Enabled on my router which usually does the trick with the firewal disabled, however now that doesnt work. The only way to get my NAT to OPEN is by factory resetting the router, then select UPNP Enabled. It works for a day and then goes back to strict. Im not sure if this is anything to do with it , but my IP address always changes every day and thats so anoyying. It makes port forwarding irrelevent. For example, it will change from 192.168.1.33 to 34, 35 and cycle through again.

Any ideas on any of this would be helpful!
Thanks

Hi Saber,

What model do you have exactly? It will probably mean putting your 360 into a DMZ, so a look at the manual would be a good place to start.

Yeah, me again Saber,

With your PC turned on, fire up your 360 and navigate through Settings > System Settings >Network Settings > Configure Network > Basic Settings.

From here you can view your IP Address amongst other things. You should see something like;
IP Settings - Automatic
IP Address - 192.168.0.3 (the last digit can range as far as .254)
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.0.1 (your router)

Now somewhere in your router settings (it's under WAN Settings for my router) will be the option to put your 360 into a DMZ.

Type an IP Address such as 192.168.10 or use what your 360 is displaying, maybe 192.168.0.33, then click 'Apply'. Restart your 360 and see whether or not that's changed your NAT settting.

Hey sorry, My router doesn't have a DMZ option.
I've just found the option to "reserve" the IP for my 360 so i've done that for now however without UPNP the NAT is still strict.

Hi,

UPNP should be enabled, try it and does that make a difference? What model is it exactly?

Hey
Its the p-660HW - T1 v2

For example, yesterday i did a factory reset, forwarded the port i needed, disabled the firewall and enabled UPNP. The NAT was Open, however i've gone onto it now and its STRICT. ?

If it's any consolation, you're not the only one having the very same problem (I was going to use the word 'issue' but that's just a problem with a cherry on top).

One possible solution appeared time after time. Take a look at Itshme's response.

Hmm, I just followed all of the items on Toms Hardware, and restarted, and the Xbox says its open!
The only problem i had was when NAT - Port forwarding Port 3074 it came up with ERROR :INTERNAL ERROR, But if it works, it works! I shant complain!
Ill keep you posted over the next couple of days , thank you

There does appear to be numerous problems with this router and LIVE Saber. If you are in a position to replace it, I would seriously consider that option.

What make? I've always found the Netgear DG834 models fine and the latest WNDR3300-100UKS works well too.
