New to Web Design

Hello


I am new to web design and I want to make a new web page for fun, and what I am looking to make is a site where I can write a monthly newsletter and to be able to let vierwers access it to the older newsletter, also I am also looking to be able to upload pictures and videos, and lastly to be able to manage a fourmn and a blog. I am looking for links and software programs(preferable cheap or free). So please if any one has any information that will help me that would be great.

If you don't know html basics you have a lot of research to do before you can do all of that. There is an open source html editor that can get you started.

KompoZer

There is also a site that can get you started learning html and css. This may not seem important if you use a wysiwyg editor like KompoZer but it is critical to learn at least the basics. You'll eventually have to do some code editing and there isn't an editor that will do that for you. I recommend getting a text editor like NoteTab Light (freeware) and going thru the tutorials.

Using one of the free templates would be the best way.

I don't think so. Many of the templates are made with images chopped up into tables making them difficult to customize. The best way is to use standard coding.

As for the site you linked to, it looks like crap in Firefox. It might look ok in IE. I didn't bother to check. I certainly wouldn't consider using anything they have.
