CPU loading heavily
My CPU seems to be loading pretty heavily even when I am not doing anything really load intensive. Even to the point sometimes where my mouse becomes stodgy. I recently installed a new CPU. Is there a chance that it is not seated correctly? I did not seem to have this problem with my old CPU. It is an exact replacement. Anyone have any insights as to what might be causing this? I have Malwarebytes installed on the computer. Is this enough? Could some kind of malware be running in the background sucking up system resources? My CPU load goes as high as 50-60% even when idle.

I ran ESET and it did not find any malware. What exactly is "data mining" and how does it work.
Thank you for your reply Jim |

In simple terms other machines use your CPU to work for them as mining is quite CPU intensive. Here are a couple of links you may find helpful:

I have just remembered you have just re-installed Windows. It may take a loooong time to complete it's update cycle particularly if it defaults to Linux on reboot making the Windows setup nullify so a loop occurs..

OK got it. So it' is probably nothing. We'll wait a little while longer and see what happens.
What is "nullify to a loop"? Thanx Jim |

Wait at least a week in my experience.
Explanation. Because Windows initiated the re start then Linux booted Windows setup did not occur setting into motion a cycle of repetition. Last edited by Jaytee; April 29th, 2020 at 11:17 PM. Reason: Addititional text |
