Screen savers

I know with a CRT monitor that if you have an image on the screen for too long it can leave a permenant marking on the screen, hence why screen savers are there.

Does the same thing happen with TFT flat screens? I'd prefer to get rid of the screen saver because it is annoying but I don't want to damage the screen.

Thanks for your response.

Hello Aspin

TFT flat screens use a flourescent backlight so they don't need a screensaver like CRT monitors. I still wouldn't leave it on all the time, you'll shorten the life span of your flourescent backlight faster than normal.

Ah, thanks!

It's set to turn off every 30 minutes to save power, so it won't litterally be on 24/7.

Thanks again for the help!

Screen burn affects:
CRT - Yes

Plasma - Yes
LED - No
OLED - No

TFT is a type of LCD.

Modern CRTs don't suffer nearly as much from burn-in than they used to. Modern screen savers are more for novelty than anything else.
