Windows 200 Pro and AVG antivirus

I am running WIndows 200 PRo and Avg anitvirus. I have had lots of problems with my computer and have just reloaded windows, have a new harddrive and new motherboard.
I downloaded AVG free antivirus and still have the old one in a file, from my old hard drive.
My system is giving me error messages and is shutting down and rebooting at odd times.
I want to elimate the old AVG on the old harddive file, but when I go to uninstall in both the new versionAVG and the one in the old harddrive file, they say I can't uninstall until I empty the virus vault. When I go to the virus vault, there is nothing in it.
Can I elimate the one in the old hard drive file simply by hi-lite and delete?

Ok

I have had the same problem. Your running AVG 6 Free Addiotion. I could not get this to work and cuased major problems. I understand that their is a new version on the web.

I stopped using AVG and moved over to Panda AV ok it not free but it better smarter and faster.
