Product ID Retrieval
Win 10 hard drive failure
Hoping to download Win 10 from MS again and install on a new hard drive - but windows don't put a sticker with the Product ID on the outside How do I retrieve the ID from any files on the hard drive ( which I can read) - it has bad sectors and won't boot. I understand you can go to a MS site and type in the Product key and download the same version...? Thanks |

If you upgraded to Windows 10 from a previous version through upgrade there is no product key, they now use a digital signature.
Try this and see if you can point it to the bad drive: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/produkey.html |

Hi, yes as Murf say's you most likely have a digital licence, if this is an upgraded computer (from 7 or 8) OR you bought it with 10 already on it you will not need the key, it is hardwired to the system, MS know many people need to upgrade their HDD so it is accommodating.
Go to this site read the instructions carefully and you should be right to go. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10 |
