HDMI and Windows 10

Hello, My husband and I just purchased a HP notebook with Windows 10. We were excited to hookup our HDMI cable to the TV. I was at the screen that shows monitor 1 and monitor 2 in display. My husband and I forgot that it's a touch screen and he said I think it's this one, and touched one of the icons on the right showing the different ways to display your monitor. The screen went black. I unplugged the cable and I no longer have monitor 2. I even hit detect. I think it is still there!! I plug in the cable to the computer now and it goes black, I unplug it and I see my computer screen again. I can tell that my husband and I are going to enjoy our new notebook If you could please give me a suggestion on our to get monitor 2 back, it would be greatly appreciated.

Press the Windows logo key and the "P" key see if you have it to EXTEND?

Thank you. Found out the HDMI cable was not activated on the TV.
