phone apps
I am usually asked by phone apps to give access to gps. Does this mean i am being followed ie that the app maker has my location all the time? Or just when i have the app on? If so can that be eliminated by turning gps off?
They also want phone access address book access and so on. Is all that data going to them too? Thanks. |

it all depends what the app does. some examples, weather and news apps may want gps and location service so they can auto feed you news and weather for your area. Email and texting apps will need access to your contacts to auto fill. launcher apps need access to everything since they are changing the looks of your phone. scanner apps may need access to your camera and location so when you scan an item, you will get your local prices.
and yes, some apps collect data about you to resell because that is how you pay for those free apps. |
