reformatting hard drive - format "c:\", "d:\", and "e:\" or just "c:\"

I am about to reformat my hard drive after saving off all my data and e-mail. The machine has Windows 98 with 1 physical hard disk which is divided up into 3 logical drives: c:\ d:\ and e:\
When I boot up with the boot disk in my floppy, do I only need to run the "format c: /q" command or should I run "format" for d:\ and e:\ first ?

I guess it would depend on why you are reformatting and how many "drives" you want.

In case you're foggy on just how to do this, look here:

I could not find your syntax for doing what you want. Just as easy to start fresh with fdisk. You could just format c: then format d: then format e:
Then boot your cd up and install setup or use bootdisk.
All your data will be up in smoke, of course.
Good luck.

Welcome

The Operating System is on the C drive.
D and E will only hold data.

To perform a clean install of the OS then you only need to format C.

If you still want to clean the other partitions then you can also format them, but it is not essential.
