Hi there,
I am using Windows 7. I had reinstall my Windows 7 and since then most of my file became encrypted (shows green in explorer). I ran into a strange behaviour where I am not able to use or decrypt the files. I dint knew about the encrytion. I am the administrator on my machine which is running Windows 7. I get the following error -------- An error occured applying attributes to the file. <FileName> Access is denied. -------- I do not have any encryption key nor do I have created any. I have tried the following :: When I right-click the folder > properties > go to advance > Uncheck encrytion > apply changes > continue (user account control) > I get this ... "An error occurred applying attributes to the file: C:\Program Files\Windows Collaboration Access is denied. Ignore. Ignore All. Try Again. Cancel." This is a really annoying little problem that I need to have go away, so any help would be appreciated! Points to note: SAFE MODE doesn't help. I am logged as administrator, which makes it all the more frustrating. I don't know of any other folders that act up like this. Please let me know what is going on! Hi NYK. Green folders/files in windows 7 indicates the folders/files are encrypted with EFS and there is no way this can be undone without the keys so we cannot help you.
I have no idea how this could have occurred without your knowledge, especially as Windows 7 warns you to back up your key when you encrypt folders/files. |

There should be some way how we can get this fixed.
I still have those file which are really important. Do check if there are any other ways or any software. |
