Newbie networking ? with Linux???

I am new to Linux but lifelong Windows. I would like to start testing some Linux OS's but which one to use with a Windows 2003 Domain? Can Linux connect to a Windows network and share resources? I have SUSE 10 running but have not done much with it. What's your thoughts???

My opinion is that you are going to need "samba" if you wish to file share with windows.

Samba client enables you to view files on other (Windows) network shares.
Samba server enables you to share your files with other network machines.
