Don't see anything that might cause blue screens. I don't see the Additions.txt log, which would show what's installed. When you mention being reminded about driver updates, it suggests you have Driver Update or some similar software installed. Doesn't really help, and usually wants to be purchased. If so you can just uninstall it.

I have heard those rumors about turning off or not turning off your computer. I have had computers running for years, both staying on and being turned off every day, and never noticed a difference.

Kinda wish you would just do the RAM checking procedure I mentioned, since it would show whether or not RAM is the BSOD culprit.

For a few months, the computer fans were getting very loud and things were slowing down generally. I cleaned the very dirty fans, and they went silent. I also deleted a great deal of material off my large hard drive, thinking that would help.

What did you delete?????? And how did you delete?????

More recently I've been getting very frequent, almost daily blue screen crashes.

I did not usually write down what it said. The first thing it began saying was

Driver IRQL Not Less Or Equal STOP: 0x000000D1

As Jintan said, you need to check the memory. You said you have 4 slots with two oif them filled. Just pull one memory stick out and run it with just one see if the VSOD go away. If not then replacxe it and pull the other and do the same thing. You don;t have to run very long with just the one memory stick in as if one is bad it will BSOD.

Your initial error "Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal STOP: 0x000000D1

This is a Memory related error that often aooears if a system process or a driver attempts to access a memory address without proper access rights.

It can also be generated because of;

• Corrupt system files
• Incompatible device drivers
• Faulty hardware items
• Incorrect software installation

If you would post the exact error it would really help as generally the BSOD will tell you what file is causing it.

Really: Need to check your memory as Jintan suggest.

Thank you for your help advice and patience. This is a very stressful thing for me.

I did have something that more or less installed itself as some kind of Driver updater. Deleted it because I suspected malware, a couple of weeks ago.

I run malwarebytes and it never finds anything.
I run Microsoft Security Essentials, it never finds anything.

Currently I have turned off AdBlock Plus and have turned off Microsoft Security Essentials, which are both criminally insane resouce hogs.

Tried Chrome again, and it is running at BLAZING FAST speed again with so far within two days no Blue Screen Crash.

I think all this "security" stuff is what is the actual problem at the root of nine thousand percent of all issues.

my friend works in IT, and I asked about this.
She says, You have to give up Windows 7 and upgrade eventually.

I ask why?

She says because they will stop patching the security holes that hackers find.

I ask.....if Hakckers can find holes, WHY WHY WHY WHY didn't the original people at Microsoft simply design / program / build the Windows 7 without those security flaws in the first place.

She replies, We IT people know how to do it CORRECTLY IN THE FIRST PLACE but super hyper greeedy nazi republican corporate managers only care about deadlines and profit, not about doing things right in the first place. We programmers are NOT IN CONTROL of the product that ends up in your hands.

They actually MAKE MORE MONEY when hackers destroy their old products.

Ok, ok, I really despise the idea of getting electrocuted but I will try pulling out the RAM one stick at a time.

I deleted thousands of video and photo files. I have no idea what you mean by "How" I deleted. I simply selected a few thousand files and mouse clicked to delete. Dumped the recycle bin, also.

I read that out of my Terrabyte drive I should have at least 15 per cent free /empty at all times. AT the moment it says I have only 15 Gigs free.

I routinely go to ALT CTRL DEL and look. All sorts of crap I don't recognize.
The things I don't recognize are using a trillion per cent of the memory.
So, I go into Malwarebytes, Spybot, and also Add or Remove programs and try to clear the crud out.

Never seems to make any difference.

Chrome is the worst user of memory, uses like ninety eight thousand percent of capacity, insane. But, at least it is not GLACIALLY SLOW like IE and Firefox.

Clearing History and Cache in any browser makes ZERO difference. If slow, I have to completely reboot to get internet working agian.

I will try to be patient enough to write down the six hundred lines of gibberish that show up, always different on each Blue Screen and tell you.

At that point I'm literally smashing furniture and making plans to threaten Bill Gates. So.

Ok, here goes. I hate this. Am turning off, and pulling Ram one at a time.

Ok, I'm back.

Shut down, physically unplugged, removed ONE of the RAM sticks,

Plug back in, rebooted, and the machine appears to be running.

Not really at all clear what the point of this is, but here goes the next
step. Gonna shut down, unplug, put that removed stick back in the same slot, then remove the other stick and try to reboot again.

You need to unplug a stick of RAM, and then use the computer as normal. And wait for a blue screen. No blue screen, that stick was the culprit. But you have to wait for a blue screen.

OK,i did exactly what I said I would in my last post. When I did the computer would not boot. Fansdidcome on. Made two beeps, silent, then same two beeps and repeat
At this point I have tried all possible arrangements of both sticks.
Unlike the first time with just one in and one removed that configuration will no longer bolt
All I get now are beeps
Advice online suggests the ram sticks are not pushed in far enough

I get them in, push pretty hard
Advice online says the white clips should engage and lock by themselves but they do not
Manually closed lips.
Even with clips closed I am able to pull sticks out
I'm exhausted and terrified to hat my reluctNcd to follow your advice was well founded. It appears I hVd broken the machine. Laboriously typing this on a tiny cell phone. Definitely one of the worst experiences of my lifd

Ok, in a fit of despair and desperation I tried again to instert one RAM stick, pushing down with a huge insane amount of force. As expected I heard a "snap" as if something were breaking. Instead, it was evidently the sound of the stick FINALLY going in.
Tested, and the computer did reboot. However, the monitor was all messed up, everything too big. Sort of adjusted it myself, but not really back to normal.

At any rate, I am going to limp along on this one stick and wait for a Blue Screen as you have advised.

When blue screen appears, it would be nice if I could just save a screen shot of it, is there any way to do that? Hm. I guess I can take a photo with my phone.

Will report any BSOD info as it happens. Gonna give this bout 48 hours to test, then try the other stick.

Meanwhile, I've got brand NEW RAM coming in the mail

A couple questions: Can a RAM stick be only PARTIALLY bad or is it either completely functional or completely dead?

Should I leave the old stick in, and put the new sticks into the expansion slots?
Risks? Rewards?

Yes, RAM sometimes requires a lot of pressure to snap in and seat. But just be patient now, and yes it will be slower. And if you find nothing wrong with the other stick, then yes you can leave it when you add RAM.

This is EXCRUCIATING

This is the third time I've tried to post.

Something has happened to the keyboard, and if I type even ONE thing wrong, it suddenly brings up something completely bizarre.

My GUESS is that some kind of rotten keyboard shortcuts thing has become enableed without my consent.

Ran fine since last post.

In fact, with Micorosoft Security Essentials and AdAware turned off, suddenly even on ONE ram stick, the computer FLIES LIKE A DREAM

Was simultaneously running youtube, netflix, OpenOffice Writer, Windows Media Player, Audacity and Notepad for many hours.

This is actually a BARE MINIMUM of what I want to be able to simultaneously run flawlessly at all times.

It appears as if the horrific problems I have are ALL caused by this supposed "helping" security software.

RT64WIN7.sys is the onboard Realtec NIC driver. This is causing the BSOD.

You need to run System File Checker (SFC)

If you can get it running, then do this:


1. Open the Start Menu, click on ALL Programs and Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and click on Run as Administrator

At the blinking cursor type in the following:

SFC /scannow (there is a space between "C" and "/")

Hit enter

Let it run then reboot see if that helps.

If that doesn't then try reinstalling your NIC driver:

Ok, for no evident reason, the new RAM sticks arrived here about TEN DAYS ahead of when they said they would arrive.
Any advice on WHERE exactly to install them is needed. Right now I have ONE old RAM stick in that has so far produced ONE blue screen crash.
Should i take that out, leave it in?
WHERE should the new RAM go, in old slots or expansion slots?

Ok, thanks for the advice. I should say that long before I ever posted here, I did run Scannow, about a thousand times.

It never found or fixed anything.

Same with everything else. I've run scans and scans and scans with all sorts of things, and they all say, NOPE everything is perfect.

However, I AM following your directions and will post the results.

I should mention that at the moment I am running on One RAM stick and did have one BSOD. However since I turned OFF both Microsoft Security Essentials and turned off AdAware, the computer is running like a dream
FAST FAST FAST FAST even with literally a dozen programs running at the same time.

That is the goal I wanted. NO MORE SLOW. FAST FAST FAST with zero frustration.
