Virtual OS question
Hi I'm new to virtual machine and have a question. I am running windows 7 on a virtual machine on a laptop running windows 10 and wanted to know can i run a program / game installed on the host OS from the virtual machine or do I have to load the virtual machine and install the program / game there also ?

The answer is not cut-and-dried. It depends a lot on the game, but technically, yes, you can sometimes share the installation directory between the the host and guest. You may still need to run the installer in the guest O/S to get the game to work.
The key is sharing host drives with the guest o/s and how your guest o/s then manages those shared folders. Some virtualisation software (e.g. VMWARE and VirtualBox) will treat the shares as network drives and you will need to persistently map those drives to a letter and see if your game allows you to install to a mapped network folder. |
