Microsoft .NET

When I reboot, as the computer is finishing booting up, I get a pop up message that says I need Microsoft .NET version 2.0. I did a search on my computer (it's new with Windows 7) for ".NET framework" and it returned no results. So I'm not even really sure I even have it at all. Since version 3.5 or something is out now, can I just get that? If so, would the version on this page be the one since it says service pack 1? Or do I need to get a lower version number and work up?

With XP, every time I did a Windows update, if there was an update for .NET, it was always listed. But it isn't even mentioned in Win 7.

Hi cheezit. Windows 7 ships with .NET Framework 2 already installed. It sounds as though you have installed an application that is not compatible with Windows 7 and needs updating.

Do you remember what software/hardware you had installed when this started happening? A printer maybe?

I installed my Dell V305 printer but I can't honestly say if that is when the problem started or not. I did install whatever was on the CD that came with it. No other hardware. As far as software goes, only Irfanview, the Open Office suite, Firefox and Thunderbird. That's about it.

If you got the printer before Windows 7 came out, it's likely you need drivers that will work with Win7.

You can download those printer drivers for the V305 from this Dell page.

I ordered the printer with the computer at the same time. At the link, it says
Quote:
Compatibility
Systems Operating systems
Printer V305/V305w AIO Inkjet
Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit
Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit
Microsoft Windows XP
I have Windows 7 64 bit. Since it doesn't list 64 bit, is that a problem? It does say the printer is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 versions on the product pages.

Would the driver on this page be the right one?

On a side note, I want to download and install Paint.NET, a free photo editing program. But it says I need version 3.5 of the .NET Framework, so I've held off even downloading it so far, due to the pop up I get.

Windows 7 ships with .NET Framework 3.5

You can download the 64bit driver here.
