Red face TWAIN issues

Have a Brother MFC 4820C all-in-one... after computer shop installed second hard drive for me, the scanner portion of the MFC gives the following error: "TWAIN device is already in use"... not sure what to do now... the rest of the unit works fine... can copy, print and fax... can't scan...

O.S. Win 2k, all updates/service packs

Hi krasjeep welcome to Cyber Tech Help.

"Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel will uninstall and references to the multi-function device
(anything "Brother" or printer related). Once uninstalled...
  1. unplug the device (USB) from the computer
  2. reboot
  3. install multi-function device software from CD
  4. if it tells you to reboot after do so
