Hank,
You only need to post this once big guy.

What type of Zip drive is it? USB or Parallel, Zip100 or Zip250? Has this problem always occurred? If not, when did it start happening?

Go into Bios. Hit the F1 key at first sign of bootup. See if it is listed and at what position. You may want to put it to the top of the list. Let it bootup first. Then reboot and see if it will detect and load at startup.

Another possibility is that you may need to delete the drive in device manager, then reboot. Let windows reinstall the drivers. May be a corrupted driver, that just needs reinstalled.

Ooops, if it's a paralle zip dirve, it will be connected externally through the LPT1 port...the same port that the printer uses. If it's an internal zip then it's an IDE type drive connected to the same kind of ribbon cable as the hard drive and CD drive. Either one is totally setup different than the other. We need to know which one it is.

Recently I had the same problem with my Zip 100 Parallel Drive. The fix was to go to the Iomega website and download updated Iomegaware drivers. The link if you need it is http://www.iomega.com/software/index.html
