Gnoppix

http://www.gnoppix.org/

Gnoppix is a linux live cd based upon Debian GNU/Linux. It can be compared to Knoppix but GNOPPIX uses GNOME as desktop environment.

We have a GUI installation tool to make installing GNU/Linux with a GNOME desktop as easy as possible.

The Gnoppix Project is pleased to announce Gnoppix 0.8
Gnoppix is a free operating system, with the gnome desktop
environment, features cryptographic software, is compatible
with the FHS v2.2 and supports software developed for the LSB.
Gnoppix 0.8-Series comes with Gnome 2.6 and Kernel 2.6.7
C++ 3.4, egroupware, Openoffice, see filelist for details.
A full Mono Develop environment is also included. Now we
have a nice GUI Installation tool, you can install Gnoppix
with 7 clicks to your Harddisk. Gnoppix comes with 23
bootable languages.

Lnx-bbc

http://www.lnx-bbc.org/

What distribution do you use?

We develop our own distribution specifically to fit in the space constraints of the tiny CD-ROMs. We compile everything from source code with -Os, and use an elaborate system of compression and pivot_rooting to make a 50MB CD-ROM hold all of the programs we include.

Why not just use Knoppix?

Knoppix is an excellent live-CD distribution, but one with different goals. Knoppix is meant to be a fully-featured Debian system on a CD or DVD. The LNX-BBC is meant to be a portable card-sized distribution, designed to fit in your wallet or pocket. The form factor of a business card CD makes the LNX-BBC more readily transportable than a full-size CD-ROM.

Does it work with Red Hat?

The LNX-BBC is its own operating system. It works independently of what operating system is installed on the computer's hard drives. You could have OS/2 installed on your system and the LNX-BBC would still function in your machine.

Mandrake Move

http://www.mandrakesoft.com/products/mandrakemove

MandrakeMove : move with Internet, Office & Multimedia in your pocket!

As a result of listening to customer needs, Mandrakesoft has created MandrakeMove -- a new product based on Mandrakelinux 9.2 that provides a complete personal desktop operating system on a bootable CD. Personal data and configuration settings may be automatically stored on a dedicated USB Key.

MandrakeMove lets you bring your Mandrakelinux system wherever you go, all on a single disc, so that you can connect to the Internet, create & edit Office documents, listen to music, watch movies, and just about anything you can imagine from wherever you happen to be!

With MandrakeMove, there's no need to install a Linux system to have a full-featured desktop: just place MandrakeMove live CD into a CD-ROM drive, boot from the disc, then watch an entire Mandrake system run "on the fly" from the CD-ROM. As a unique added feature, the MandrakeMove CD-ROM may be ejected to access content from another CD.

Additionally, MandrakeMove provides the ability to store configuration files and personal data on a USB key; this data can be encrypted for the highest level of security and privacy! MandrakeMove features an impressive selection of first-class applications. In addition to multimedia and graphics software, MandrakeMove also includes a complete office suite for creating, editing and sharing Microsoft® Office compatible files (xls, doc, ppt). You'll enjoy hours of fun with highly addictive games (such as the famous 'Frozen Bubble'), 3D programs, educational applications for children, and much more. MandrakeMove currently supports five languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Morphix

http://www.morphix.org/modules/news/

Morphix is a modular GNU/Linux livecd-enabled distribution (you burn the CD, you put it in your CD-Rom drive, you boot and it works... no harddisk-installation necessary, doesn't touch your data). Also, installing Morphix on a harddisk is a breeze. Morphix should still be considered experimental in nature. No guarantees are given, use Morphix at your own risk!

ISO's with XFCE4, Gnome2.4, KDE3.1, a game iso and a large number of derivatives are available. Morphix is an Open Source/Free software project, based on Debian GNU/Linux and Knoppix. For more information, check the FAQ, Wiki, or ask on our forum. Debian packages and source code are available via our repository and CVS. It is possible to download morphix, or you may buy morphix.

Suse Live

http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/suse_linux/

SUSE LINUX for i386 Live-Eval

SUSE makes the live-eval version of SUSE LINUX available for download as an ISO image. This version runs entirely from the bootable CD and is not installed on the hard disk.

If you want to get to know SUSE LINUX or test if your hardware is fully supported, the live-eval version is the right choice for you.

I've only used Knoppix, but it worked well. No problems with the setup and found the network and internet straight away.

Damn Small Linux
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

What is Damn Small Linux?
Damn Small Linux is a business card size (50MB) bootable Live CD Linux distribution. Despite its minuscule size it strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop.

Why?
Because having a working Linux desktop distro on a 50 mb bootable business card CD is just too cool not to do.

Overclockix
http://overclockix.octeams.com/

Based on the unofficial Knoppix 3.4 Cebit magazine edition, Overclockix 3.4 has gone gold!!! This custom Knoppix features the latest packages available for the SID (unstable) branch of Debian. Some highlights are captive-NTFS (write support), install on demand scripts, 2.4.23-xfs and 2.6.1 kernel selectable at boot, Gnome 2.4, KDE 3.2.2 with noia icons, Fluxbox, Icewm, Enlightenment, Gimp 2.0, and all the usual Overclockix packages (ml-donkey, BT, mplayer, mozilla-firefox and mozilla-thunderbird, karamba, stress-testers and DC clients) and let's not forget the stylish desktops. This by far is the best release version of Overclockix to date.
