This is a question from another thread in response to my original post:

- Confirm your version of Windows.
- Explain exactly how you launch the chkdsk command (command prompt or other? What command exactly ? What syntax ?)
Windows 8.1
I launched chkdsk from the command prompt as an admin.
chkdsk /f

When I ran it again recently it seemed to work.... so I will need to fun it through again and test the startup file repair function as well before requesting continued support with this case... Standby.

Might try
chkdsk /r
instead.

Hi,

Yes, the report could be useful.

In a first time, as you have :
- a sfc scan clean
- a dism report clean
we'll go to the easyer.

Open your files explorer, right click C: and choose "properties". Then click "Tools" and "Verify". Let it run (do not open other programs..it takes 15/20 minutes).

What's the result ?
