Converting files into .pdf
Hi, hope you can help me (again) with a technical problem. I have to send a document in pdf format...the individual pages are still in seperate JPEG files and I have to put them together in a pdf.

Any free software gubbins and so on which can help.

Why do people use PDF's... Isn't it easier just to use word documents? Or are they used because you can't copy and paste etc...

PDFs were designed to be viewed on many systems, hence Portable Document Format - they are viewable by any computer/platform with a (free) PDF reader installed. Word documents are only viewable by people with Microsoft Word (or, more recently, Open Office) since .doc is a proprietry Microsoft format.

or the free Word Viewer.

For viewing the documents in either PDF or Doc then you need a program or viewer.

Ahh yes, that too. And true, you need viewer software for either format. But the point still remains, DOC is a proprietry format, whereas PDF is an open format which gives it the greater advantage.

Word documents can also be opened in Notepad, and/or Wordpad...

If they that formatting though you will loose it all and have a bunch of garbled text.
