Ram caching I think

umm, ok

so I have two large setup files and I'm testing them on 2 different computers

1 computer has a gig of ram and is 2.0 Ghrz.

the other has 256 ram and 1.7 Ghrz

the two setup files are 357 and 900 megs

The thing is when I run the 357 meg setup file on either comp is takes about 6 secs before any dialouge pops up

My problem is with the second file the 900 meg one, Personally I would think that the more superior computer would win in this but get this,

the 900 meg file took about 3 mins before any dialouge poped up
on the 2.0 Ghrz system with 1 gig of ram

Now the weird thing is, the same file and the 1.7 system with 256 ram
the setup file poped up instantly!

I think the on the other computer it is caching the program in the ram first before running it. because during the 3 min it takes to load, my hard drive goes crazy.

so does ne one know how to fix this?

Most likely the more powerful PC has a high degree of file fragmentation?
