microsoft fix it center

ran across the following utility from microsoft over at cnet. anyone heard anything about it or gave it a try?

I ran it successfully on a friends computer to fix a missing optical drive and I have a reference to it on my daughters computer but I cannot remember why..

I'm cautious about MS "fixing" anything... I'm sure for simple non-malware/hardware/3rd party software related errors it may do ok... but this is MS were talking about... you can be sure their "fix it" utility is likely to actually cause problems, if any of those issues are present.

My 2 cents :-)
