Help! Windows can't start!

Hi people this is my first post...I need help because I have a Toshiba Satellite M505 S4940. This is what happened...I turned on the computer it was all fine but it took way to long to load everything on the desktop it took like half an hour to load just the sidebar! I'm not a very patient person so I restarted the computer...and that's when everything got bad! xD It started on the recovery system...(something like that)...when I ran the test at the end it said that it couldn't recover the system...I also tried to use it in safe mode but it came up with the same recovery thing! :S

P.S.: I also tried running it from the CD drive using a Ubuntu disk...at first it was ok but then there was a problem...it said something like no screen found...I didn't get it! (I don't know if this is helpful)

Thanks for all your help!

(when I get the chance I'll post some pics)

sounds like there could be hardware problem. find out who the harddrive manufacturer is, go to their website, download and run their harddrive diagnostic utility to find out if you have a bad drive.

What about the temperature, does the laptop feel hotter than normal? fans blowing?

I can't do that because I can't use the computer at all...I can't anything when it starts it just comes up with the recovery manager -or whatever is called- I also ran another test that checks if there's a hardware problem...and it said everything was ok...

If you are having problems with both windows and linux as you indicated in your first post, then it is most likely hardware or temperature. The harddrive diagnostic utility runs from boot not from windows.

Exactly what test did you run to check the harddware?
