No password, but "locked" after hibernation

Hi all,

An amateur's question here following unsuccessful google attempts.

I purchased a new laptop yesterday and initially set up a password. Later I figured it wasn't worth it since I always liked to press the power button, walk off to get a drink, and come back with the pc all fully booted to use. So I removed the password.

However, what happens now is that after hibernation, the screen says "Locked". I don't have to enter a password, but I still have to click my user to enter. (And this laptop is only used by me; ie. only one user setting)

Note: Powering on from an off-state does not bring up this "locked" screen.
Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance.

Right click an empty space on the Desktop and in the menu that opens, left click Personalize.

In the Personlize window, click on Screen Saver. In the window that opens, if the box for "On resume, display login screen" is checked, uncheck it. Click OK.

See if that sorts it out.

Right click the battery icon in the lower righthand corner of the screen and select Power options. Then select change plan settings for the plan that you currently have active. Then select change advanced power options. Towards the top select "change settings that are currently unavailable", then under "require password on wakeup" change both "plugged in" and "battery" to "No". Let us know if that works.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. The box under Personalize was already unchecked, but the Power Options setting seems to do the trick. I'll try a hibernate now.

Thanks again.
