Error 1000 in Internet Explorer

I have worked through several errors recently and have what I think is my last event error:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 8.0.6001.18702, time stamp 0x49b3ad2e, faulting module ole32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a74c, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000259f5, process id 0x1180, application start time 0x01c9de7da2b9aef0.

Changing from IE 7 to IE 8 didn't help it
using sfc scannow also didn't fix this problem

I would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

Scott

Hi Scott. What are you doing when the error occurs? Can you use IE at all?

Ann Marie,

I can use IE, no issue with that. This error seems to fall into the inconvenient category, and is not disabling. Unfortunately I can't tell you exactly what I am doing when this error occurs. I believe it occurs when I am doing relatively benign web browsing (no video clips, etc).

Try disabling all add-ons and see if the error message still occurs. To do this, close IE and hit the Windows key plus r on your keyboard and type:

iexplore.exe -extoff

in the Run box and click ok. IE will open with a message saying that IE is running without add-ons. Any difference?

Ann Marie,

Thx. I didn't try this since I installed a new drive and reinstalled my OS. Your comment did encourage me to focus on my add-ons, however, so thanks. IE seems to be much better now, though ocassional errors occur; however, they seem garden-variety and relatively benign.

Thanks.

Scott
