Vista Desktop gone ?
I just ran SP1 on Vista. After reboot my desktop is gone? I can go to task manager and make DT open, but after reboot it does not come back? Can anyone help?

You need to uninstall the Service Pack from Programs and Features in Control Panel unclewiggily (look in the lefthand menu and click on "View Installed Updates") and reboot. What make and model computer do you have?

It's home made. DuoCore chip. w/2gig of Ram.

Have you uninstalled SP1?
It sounds as though one of your drivers may not be compatible with the Service Pack but the sniffer should withhold the service pack from Windows Update if this is the case. Where you obtain SP1 from?
